Johnson Stevens' founder Derek Johnson, MBE, dies

All at Kestrel are sad to hear of the death yesterday of Derek Johnson, MBE.

Derek was well known throughout the UK and international shipping, freight, and logistics sectors and will be greatly missed by those who knew him.

Best known within the shipping, freight and logistics sectors as founder and chairman of Johnson Stevens Agencies (now JSA Global), Derek was also active for many years in social and charitable projects and was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s birthday honours in 2004 for services to business and to the community. He also received the IFW Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007 in recognition of his more than 50 years’ contribution to the shipping, freight transport and logistics sectors.

An obituary and farewell article will be published later this week, written by Andy Thorne.
