Caroline has given us a few insights into her involvement in this region over the years - here’s what she has to say …

“Many years ago I dealt with Australia for a new service (Morline) I’m showing my age now, this was early 1990 when wine was becoming a bit of a thing in the UK, we shipped large quantities from the new age wineries into the UK from Australia. I worked with Morline for nearly 12 and really cut my teeth with this liner agency, having started with Morline as a filing clerk back when I was only a slip of a girl, I made my way up the ranks quickly to Sales manager (South) unfortunately Morline could not exist after the changes in Russia and so they went into administration.

Wind forward to now and with TS Lines and Kestrel we are calling Melbourne (57 days) Sydney (58 days) Brisbane (60 days) all via Shanghai which means we avoid the congestion at Singapore.

I think the key to success for this service is our Personal Contact (we are always at the end of the phone) any issues we will resolve immediately on a one to one with a real person dealing with any issues. Also, an important service factor to consider is that Congestion as Shanghai is lot less than Singapore currently.

To ensure everything goes smoothly when shipping your cargo in and out of Australia my only real advice is ensuring all the contacts are true and documents are correct as there are many abandoned containers in Australia.

One of the Main issues in Australia is the quality of the containers and the goods being transported, For example Australia is very strict on food stuffs. Many containers need to be fumigated to get into Australia and that includes key commodities like Rattan furniture, anything that pests can linger in will be held and examined under strict restrictions, so costs can increase very quickly if importers have not correctly adhered to the rules.

With New Zealand we are offering Lyttelton/Tauranga via Shanghai with transit time of 55 days.”
